There are several “hub” cities for transportation into Canada, either directly or through the United States. Transportation of Sports Equipment.

Teams are responsible for the transportation of their own equipment. Below we have outlined some basic  information for assisting in the transportation of sporting equipment, specifically large scale items such as pole vault poles.

1.) If a team wishes to ship their poles directly to Foote Field Stadium, please use the following address:

Foote Field at the University of Alberta
11601 68 Avenue
Edmonton, AB T6G 2E1

2.) If a delegation is planning to travel with their poles:

a. Immediately contact the air carrier with which you plan to book your airline tickets to make sure they transport poles. Many air carriers in Canada do not transport poles.

b. Clearly mark your pole with your name, gender, country, and contact phone number

Once the poles arrive at the airport, athletes should retrieve their poles from the oversized baggage claim area and proceed to the LOC Services personnel located just outside of the baggage claim area. Poles will be transported to Foote Field and stored in a dry, secure location.
